What does a neuropsychological evaluation assess?

What does a neuropsychological assessment include?

- Interview of the client
- Parent interview (when appropriate) to discuss the client’s history and presenting issues
- Approximately four to six hours of testing
- Parent and/or or client feedback session
- Written report at the conclusion of the evaluation
- Recommendations for educational team, family, student and other professionals / treaters
- Communication with referring treaters
What should I tell my child about the appointment?
- It is best to explain the evaluation using simple, straightforward language
- Assure your child that he or she is not being graded
- Explain that testing will help the child, parents and teacher better understand him or her
